Anonymous asked: Hiyaaa I wanted to ask you, do you have any advice besides "keep practicing" and " look for references" on making your drawings look alive? Cuz mine rn, they look like they're forced to smile or look dead... Thank you for reading CJ!!

THIS is something very hard to explain to be honest. This is like another level of character drawing even I’m still trying to get it right ;v ; (tho some people get it right at first then learns correct proportions after while others go the other way around, it’s a cartoon thing) But a tip that helps me a lot with this is to “act it yourself”—think about the expressions well and feel them, get into the story/scene, etc. For some reason, it will come out when you draw, like don’t be afraid to exaggerate your expressions. Trust me this took me a while to learn and even now, I’m still unsure if my expressions are right, if they match the proportions or if they’re too much over acting.

Anonymous asked: Hey CJ! I just wanted to ask you where I can find good references for lips and kisses? I'm struggling a lot with that atm even though I already have a mirror next to my workspace ö^ö It always looks so smooth and natural in your drawings, quite unlike anime. Anyways. Love your art. You're amazing

Ah thanks!! The best reference you can observe is your own lips ‘ v  ‘ you’ll be able to understand it clearly and on any angle you need!

Anonymous asked: You said the better way to get anatomy is pornography, but all I ever see everywhere when I try to search is girls in complicated positions with perfect and flawless bodies. Where do you get your "anatomy references"? Sorry if this is inappropriate 😅

I get my references everywhere, from shapes to pornography but by “reference”, I mean to understand/observing anatomy clearly (like perspective, twists and turns, overlap, poses, human muscles, bones, the “how” and the “what” questions, etc which porn has a lot of it) and not literally getting the ideas and poses from porn lol. So the BEST way to get anatomy is getting as much references as you can and try and understand them. A good way to practice is to draw different basic figure poses as much as you need to until you get them right.

Anonymous asked: have you ever drawn something then looked at it and see how hideous it is then just tear the page and try to forget you ever drew it (not that you'd draw bad stuff, i basically worship your art lol

No I understand that! I actually did that so many times when I’m in high school. That’s just one of the usual art struggle stage so don’t worry xD
