(what you’ll guys read is only my perspective so if you argue, I don’t really care)
Putting watermarks is a good idea, but only place it when you’re going to post it in the internet. You can save an original one without the watermark for yourself. Tho I don’t put one on mine bc it’s very distracting.
But you know, the truth is, with or without those warnings/watermarks, even when we work hard to report them or defend it, it’s still going to be reposted AS LONG AS we posted it ourselves. In the internet. There are more people who don’t understand the reason of why reposts are bad than us who do. That is why, to be honest, I don’t really reply to those who ask to repost and to those who report to me. It upsets me, but what’s the point. It’ll just make me angry.
At first, I was told why I need to tell people to stop reposting my art, so the people who see my art know that it was ME who made it.
But think about this. Why do you like to post your art in the internet even? Even if you know it’ll be stolen? Because you like to show people what you made right? The comments you receive feels the best and people are happy because of your art. Now, why do you think people like to repost them? To share them because it’s DANG GOOD. Even without credits, they’d like to share it. Even if it’s going to make themselves popular, it’s because of what you made. YOUR ART. If it’s all about the credit, it sounded more like YOU than your art. Your title as an artist. Not your art.
I think about those things when reposts happen. No justice for me. But what I care about is that my art make people happy.
Now you decide. If you want to share your art, accept it’s going to be reposted. Report them by all means, put watermarks, but you know, you’re in the internet. Anything can happen. If you don’t like them to be reposted at all cost, then don’t share your art. It’s that simple.
Yes it’s very upsetting.
You might say “eh she’s a coward she doesn’t wanna do the right thing”. I’m just actually done.
To me, reposts are fine, and I trust everyone bc we’re adults. We credit. Like a college thesis. For the law. I only take action if it’s people claiming that they drew “my” art and for people who’re making profit out of em bc those are already out of line.
