i’d like to add:
posting art with a source, but still not asking for permission is still shitty.
reblogging art posts/reposts and removing the caption for some stupid aesthetic reason is also shitty (seriously they make themes that hide captions if your stupid aesthetic is so fucking important; don’t remove captions).

No how about you post the damn thing with the intent of finding the artist. Its not that hard to go “idk the artist, someone please tell me so I can credit.” Its like you bought something and someone asks where did you buy it. Are you gonna stare at them like idiot because you don’t know where?
