Story, Title Revealed for Blue Spring Ride Creator Io Sakisaka’s New Manga.
Pure x Real to focus on 4 characters pursuing their own views of love.
The June issue of Shueisha’s Bessatsu Margaret magazine is announcing more details about Io Sakisaka’s new manga series on Wednesday. The new manga, Pure x Real, will launch in the July issue on June 13. The manga’s 60-page first chapter will include color pages.
One of the series’ taglines reads, “Which is the love you will chase?” The story will focus on two girls whose stances on love are polar opposites. Yuna (light-hair) wants a love that’s like a dream. Akari (dark-haired) thinks she can become better at love and is very realistic in her approach. The two heroines’ stories will unfold beside two male main characters. Kazuomi (dark-hair) doesn’t understand love. He asks, “What’s that, something tasty?” On the other hand, Rio (with light hair) won’t reject anyone who comes his way, as long as that person is cute.
Shueisha will publish an illustration collection for Sakisaka on May 25, the same day that her 13th Blue Spring Ride (Ao Haru Ride) manga volume ships in Japan. The illustration collection will feature art from Blue Spring Ride as well as her manga Strobe Edge.
Sakisaka serialized her “traditional school romance” Strobe Edge in Bessatsu Margaret from 2007 to 2009. Viz Media published the 10th and final volume of the manga in North America last year. The manga inspired a live-action film starring Sōta Fukushi and Kasumi Arimura that opened in Japan on March 14.
Sakisaka ended her romance manga Blue Spring Ride in Bessatsu Margaret in February. The manga inspired a television anime last year, a live-action film in December, and an original anime DVD in December. Crunchyroll streamed the television anime as it aired in Japan.
